Interior design services
Mahle Design is a full-service residential interior design firm located in Los Angeles, California.
We work with clients all around LA including West Hollywood, Westwood, Santa Monica, Culver City, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Topanga, Malibu and beyond. Many of our past projects are located in New York.
Our main area of focus as a boutique studio is on functional and personalized design. We pride ourselves on our close working relationship with clients and are happy to share reviews and testimonials about our interior design services.
Space planning
New clients begin their interior design project with a detailed questionnaire so that we can learn more about you, your space and how you plan to use it. We’ll talk about what currently works and what doesn’t. There are many factors to consider when space planning, including whether or not you have children, pets, aging adults or limited mobility, entertain often, etc. Above all, we let your needs guide the space and design so that you have a place that really works for you.
We’ll go over your style/aesthetic to get a feel for what you like or dislike, and also talk about colors, materials, textures, etc.
If this is a new project on an empty space, we will start from scratch with the design. However, if you decide you’d like to include any existing furniture pieces, we will take inventory and decide what can work well in the improved space.
As part of the process, we’ll do a walkthrough (ideally in-person) of the space together, take measurements and outline how we can make it better and more functional for you. Sometimes we will change the layout completely, whereas in other cases it might make sense to keep the same layout but update the furnishings for a better fit and flow.
If there is more than one layout that works, we will provide multiple layouts so that you can visualize your options.
Sourcing and specification
Past clients of Mahle Design love our ability to source personalized, custom elements for the home. This includes furniture, fabric, accessories, tiles, hardware, lighting, plumbing, window treatments, etc.
We source from near and far, and have developed close relationships with reputable creatives and makers to bring unique elements to your design project.
We favor natural materials, clean and cohesive product choices, paying special attention to quality and craftsmanship.
Procurement services
In interior design, procurement services refers to purchasing all the approved goods on behalf of the client. This sounds simple, however, it can be a cumbersome step on larger projects, which many clients do not wish to manage.
At Mahle Design, we work to ensure that the highest level of quality (from goods to services) is delivered in the most reasonable amount of time. We communicate with all suppliers regarding specifications, ordering, warehouse inspections, coordination, delivery and financials.
Effective procurement services rely on a designer who has deep relationships with suppliers, is detail oriented, can problem solve and find quick solutions.
Project management and coordination
In any interior design project there are many moving parts and different players taking care of certain parts of the project at various times.
At Mahle Design, we can work closely with your architect and/or contractor to ensure that the design process goes ahead as planned - with regards to look & feel, timeline and budget.
We oversee communication between all parties involved and offer high-level project management for interior design at all stages.
Installation
On larger projects, we typically arrange to have items shipped to a local receiving warehouse as they become available. Once everything is accounted for and inspected, we will do a full installation of the project over a day or two.
Another option is to accept and install furnishings as they become available, which means that the completed design comes together gradually over time as everything trickles in. We keep track of the lead times and delivery schedule of all pieces, and coordinate with the client on the installation. In this instance, we would either charge for our time to accept individual pieces or the client would be responsible for accepting and inspecting.
We can help you decide what’s the best fit for your upcoming design project depending on circumstances.
